As luck would have it, I was in Houston already undergoing my once-a-day radiotherapy. So I decided to sign-up for the Morgan Welch Inflammatory Breast Cancer Program’s Celebration. It was held right here at MD Anderson Cancer Center, so I didn’t even have to travel to/from. I met a lot of good people, some just starting out on the cancer journey, others over a decade into theirs. Everyone looks 20 years older regardless of their age, once they’ve undergone chemotherapy. It really takes a toll on your body. But it has to. Cancer is not an easy thing to defeat, so the treatment has to be as strong as it can be without killing you.
Anyway, it was great meeting so many others in the same boat as me. And meeting some that have been cancer-free for many years now having overcome IBC. I walked away with hope, encouragement, and empowerment.
